Solved Sound issue...new Dual Monitor Setup

Hi Everyone,

I recently got a second Samsung SyncMaster 2494HS monitor to match my existing one. These monitors have inbuilt speakers.

With a single monitor, I connected the audio cable from the audio out jack on my inbuilt sound card to the audio in jack on the monitor - no problems, sound all OK. However, I would also like the sound to come from the speakers on the 2nd monitor - ie. sound from all 4 speakers.

The question is : how do I do that? I notice that on each monitor there is a audio out jack. Can I connect an audio cable from the audio out jack on the 1st monitor, and connect the other end into the audio-in jack on the 2nd monitor? Or will that just result in sound from the 2nd monitor only?

Better idea if that is what you want to do, connect the second monitor to the rear out jack (black one) and then set it to 4/4.1 in the speaker properties.

You could also use a 3.5mm adapter. You can get one from you local Radio Shack.

Simple answer would be to use a splitter. Are you using 3.5mm jack lead(s)?
Using Audio "out" on the back of a monitor would normally send the sound elsewhere, but you could try it and see.

Thanks for the replies. I messed around with some jacks and cables, but it does seem like a 3.5mm splitter is the way to go. I'll get one this week and let you know how it goes.
