Sound not working on my HP pavillon dv6000

Hi All of a sudden the sound on my HP Pavillon dv6000 stopped working, I dont have any sound device in my laptop, tried downloading sound driver from HP.com but did not work, I had done system restore but the problem was still there, then finally had to re-installed my window which made no difference still no sound

Hello and welcome Shrut mate how old is the machine as the only recent drivers I can find are for Vista 64bit.

I assume the sound isn't working from the machine sound socket so maybe it is the socket itself mate.

Unless you removed them, HP laptops come with some tools you can use to run diagnostics. On my DV6, there are links in the toolbar for viewing and launching the various tools.
