Sound through headset but not through speakers

I can hear sound through my headset which is connected by a USB. However, even though my speakers are turned on and are not muted there is no sound coming through. Disconnecting the headset does not help.


I am using Windows 7 Home Premium with 64 bit

It would be nice if you included more info in your System specs, i.e. type of computer, sound card, playback device, etc. save having to ask questions.

Right-click speaker in lower right of display, right side of taskbar, choose playback devices, popup, select sounds. If you have Realtek High Definition Audio as I have, make it default device, if not make whatever your speaker/device is the default, click on it and choose set as default, click OK.
