Sound with welcome screen

Hi folks,
I get a sound(not beep) when my window welcome screen appears. What is this and what is the problem with my laptop.
I am using windows 7 ultimate.

It's likely the normal w7 logon sound. It can be changed here: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Sound
Under the Sounds tab there are several sound schemes for different w7 operations.

What would be the default sound? I did not remember to have heard this sound when i first bought the laptop.

It says "Windows Default" in the drop down.
You may hear a short beep during startup before Windows starts as an indication all is well. There could be a dust build up that muffles it.
