Hi there,

i'm actually trying to install the service pack 1 (kb976932) for windows 7 on my girlfriends machine but i won't let me.
I tried thorugh windows update and the standalone download version. Nothing works.
I run the 'System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [November 2013] ' succesfully but it won't helped me.

PS: It's a german version of windows 7.

Please can someone help me....

Ok i will do that. I have a question to the SURT tool. The version i choosed was 'Windows 7 SP1 x64' which says it's supports this os. I have 'Windows 7 x64' installed. Is that fine because there is no version for that.

Here are the logs and a screenshot of the error message from windows update....in german like i said before
The command 'sfc /scannow' reported that no integrity violation was found.

Wrong error message - but it shouldn't hurt to try it! :)

The actual error is the first line in the snip - the rest follows on from that.
The trick is to work out which registry Key is the one that's missing. (and why CheckSUR isn't finding anything either)

Please check and see if you can find KB2667402 installed or not...

Do searches in the following folders for the string 'KB2667402' (without the quotes)

C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages
C:\Windows\System32

Is the update listed in Installed Updates?
Is it listed in the Update History? (how many times, and with what results?)

I'm sorry for answering lately but i was a little bit busy today...brother moved into new flat...
I tried some things...but no success :(

1.) On a computer running Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, service pack 1 installation fails with error message 0x800f0826
I checked the the permissions for the user groups 'SYSTEM' and 'Administrators' for the files usbstor.inf and Usbstor.pnf. First both user groups had already full control/access (?!) for both files and it wasn't possible for me to change the 'permit' permissions (grayed out). I could only do the 'refuse' stuff. I added the user, with which i'm logged in, to the security tab and gave him full access for both files. I tried a installation of sp1 via windows update, after a reboot, but unfortunately it wasn't successful. Afterwards i deleted the user from the security tab for both files.

PS#1: I checked through the Microsoft Management Console if the user, which i'm using, is part of the user group 'Administrators' and yes he is. I'm also checked the account type under 'system control' -> 'user accounts'. There stands 'Administrator'.

PS#2: I checked two updates for installation: SP1 x64 (KB976932) which and Defnition Update for Windows Defender (KB915597, Definition 1.165.2532.0). Installing sp1 fails but the definition was installed succesfully. I don#t know if this information is helpfully for you but i thought i should tell it.

2. Try another user from the machine
There are two users configured on the machine. The user my girlfriend is using for work and i tried to use so far. The second one is called 'Administrator'...user group and account type is Administrator...
I ran windows update and installing sp1 fails with the same error message like before.

No problem- I've been a little tied up lately myself!
PLease provide the data I asked for in post #11.

I'm a little worried that the Administrator account has been enabled - it's there really for emergency use only - but we'll worry about that nicety once we have things working properly again.

The update KB2667402 is listed in installed updates.

I tried to install the sp1 from 7601.17514.101119-1850_Update_Sp_Wave1-GRMSP1.1_DVD.iso from Microsoft Download Center
It ran fine for a while, maybe longer than before, and ended with the error ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND (0x80070002).
I searched for the code, came to Windows Update error "0x80070002" or "0x80070003" and run the FixIt under solution for windows 8.1, 8 or 7. The result is in fixit.pdf applied (in german but I can add appropriate translations as comments if necessary).

Great news...sp1 installed successfully :D

Ok what i did was:
I googled from the result (see 1.png) the error code 0x800f081f, i came to this site and from there to this article. I took a look into the system event log and found a entry (see error_sys_log.png).
I run an the command
Code:
dism /online /remove-package /packagename:Package_for_KB976932~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.17514
in an elevated cmd-window, like he described, and it uninstalled the package successfully. After a reboot and another run from 7601.17514.101119-1850_Update_Sp_Wave1-GRMSP1.1_DVD.iso, the sp1 was installed :party::party:

I thank you for your support in these hard times :)
