Got a problem with one of the grandkids game – Spec Ops: The Line. Game has been working great with no issues since purchase in 2012. They have logged thousands of hours playing until Wed the 17th. This was the last time it worked. On the 18th, Steam started and proceeded to do a rather lengthy update. Update finished and Spec Ops: The Line started. Kids said it would not work. I encountered a black screen and nothing else. I could not turn the computer off. After trying everything I could think of, I finally hit the power button. Rebooted and same thing again for the next 3 attempts. Finally got it to load the info screen "2006-2012 Take-two etc. etc." as it always does. After a few minutes, I would receive the message that Spec Ops: The Line has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program. Tried everything I could find on the net. All to no avail. Steam was absolutely no help in resolving this matter.
I have even formatted the hard drive. reinstalled win7 professional without any updates. installed steam and spec ops the line. Still had the same problem! Installed all the windows updates along with updated drivers for everything. Problem still exists. I know of absolutely nothing else I can do to remedy this problem! Out of eight games they have thru steam, this is the only one with an issue.
