Solved Speech Recognition Error.

Great, but now the question is, what do you do if you don't have an install disc, as in you downloaded the installer, and no longer have it on your hard drive?

Hello,
QUICK ANSWER
So i look for this problem and saw that you can fix this issue via regedit.
go to computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
right click the right pane and a "new string value" value name can be default, value data should be set to "ctfmon"="CTFMON.EXE"

Entire msg

I had the same problem. Strangely i had some other symptoms. I am using Turkish Q keyboard as primary and english U.S. as secondary. As my speech recognition broke down, i saw that my office word and outlook mulfunctioned in terms of keyboard language. I was able to use Turkish Q keyboard on any application but when i open up outlook or word, language changes to english.
It used to happen on xp to.. so i enabled language bar to set it back to TR when i am using these applications. But language bar never displayed itself on taskbar or desktop. So i look for this problem and saw that you can fix this issue via regedit.

After that i rebooted my machine and language bar came to the taskbar. I went under the applications and change language back to TR. And there was a suprise for me. Long gone speech recognition was back at the top center of the screen. (i tried everything else that people suggested nothing worked)
I am not sure but maybe language difference between applications caused my problem. Or maybe ctfmon caused it. Try this one.
i hope this is the case for you and you can fix it too..

All English (US). I've done all the resets to (UK) rebooted messed and tweaked. And I've been searching the net for 2 hours to no avail. If theres a fix I'd like to know it, but if it means an OS reload... well, I can live without speech recognition.

Speech Recognition Error

Speech Recognition could not start because the language configuration is not supported.
The recognizer language must match the language of the user interface. Please change the recognizer language in the Speech Recognition control panel under Advanced Options.

I just copied everything the error box said. If anyone has figured out a way to fix this problem, your help would be appreciated. I've been really wanting to try out Speech Recognition in Windows 7 and can't because of this.

I had a problem with the reg mod at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
It worked to get the voice recognition working, but on my first reboot I discovered I had lost my quickstart menu. After reestoring the QS Menu voice recognition still worked. So I thought, GREAT, I've got it!". Next reboot? Same thing! I disabled ctfmon.exe useing msconfig, rebooted and all is well, except, of course, I have no voice recognition. Ah well, it didn't work worth a damn anyway!

Hi guys, thanks for the information for the regedit.

I am running Windows 7 Professional 32 Bit and had the same problem with the Speech Recognition after having to do a fresh install of Windows 7 but whatever I tried, nothing worked.

I tried setting the languages to English US and also English UK as these are the only 2 languages listed but I was still receiving the message telling me that the language is not supported (the same message listed) so I found this site and gave it a try and to my surprise, when I rebooted my system, instead of seeing the Speech box pop up then dissapeer and the message box appear Speech Recognition has now started, even though it is not yet recognising my speech as I have to retrain it to understand me properly again.

Its been a lifesaver and also will save a lot of time in Word.

Once again
