Split Access in Windows 7?

Hi, we are migrating our office to Windows 7 & the new MS Office 2007. We don't have a network but need everyone to be able to work in MS Access at the same time. I was told splitting the database in Access would help us achieve this.

Will this still be the way to do it with Windows 7 & Office 2007 or does Windows 7 offer new, better ways to share programs without having a server?

If you dont ahve a network how will you work on the database at the same time?

By splitting the database into two components - 1 backend that contains the tables, & the other contains the queries, forms, reports, etc. The one with the queries, etc. is installed onto each users computer & the other is on a mapped network. Can it not work this way or is a server definitely required?

Surely that means you'd have to merge any changes that each user has made to their local copy?

How does your office function without a network?

I would get a network, an SQL Server (such as MS SQL Express which is free) and migrate the Access database to SQL and then write a multi-user front end for the users to write.
