Hi guys. Got a really weird issue that's been happening with my start menu lately. Basically what happens is when I try to rearrange the pinned icons on the Start Menu by drag and drop it doesn't work properly. Like I try to move something to the top and it goes to the middle, from the middle to the bottom and it goes somewhere in between. It's ridiculously frustrating. I have tried unpinning and re-pinning everything, still no luck.

Any ideas?

Hi Farron, keep trying, practice makes perfect. You can delete them, then replace in the order you want.

First try this: Right-click the Start button, click Properties, click Start Menu tab, click Customize, scroll down almost to the bottom and UNcheck ‘Sort All Programs menu by name’ - Click OK.

If that doesn't work, (or if you already had that setting checked), on the theory that sometimes, for whatever reason, a setting becomes corrupted, it helps to make a change in your settings, even if you are going to immediately change the setting back to what you had. So, next try checking that box, rebooting, and then UNchecking it. You may have to reboot again.

Thanks Imperfect1.

Previously I was unable to drag any start menu items at all even with the "context menu drag and drop" option enabled. I disabled the "Sort All Programs menu by name" option and now I can drag and drop again.

Cheers
