Start Menu Items Disappeared

Hi,

I was using my computer today and I've noticed that my Start menu shows no application items.

I use Open Shell for my Start menu, but changing the skin and completely uninstalling the app still gets the same results. I've checked %AppData%\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\StartMenu, and my pinned items are there, but they don't actually show up in the Start menu.

I've only noticed this happening today, yesterday everything was normal. I can't think of anything I've done that would do this. I also can't find anyone else on the internet with the same problem as me, any help would be much appreciated!

Update: After searching for some apps and running them, they show up in the start menu. My pinned icons still do not show up after removing all of them and re-adding them still...

If you right click the task bar and select properties, do you see these options checked?

Yes, both are checked.

This is for the recent items, but may work. Fix the Problem Where the Recent Items List on the Start Menu is Always Empty When You Log On

Also, there's a 'clear the recent programs list' option in group policy beneath this option. Try that as well.
