Start menu shortcuts not working

I have attached a screen shot of the issue I have, recently after installing a new programs and going to the start menu to use it, it only shows the relevant folder only but not the shortcuts. This is really troublesome and hope to get some help.

What program or programs did you install?

recently installed MS Office 2013, DAEMON Tools Lite, Visual studio, SQL server,etc. I saw it first after installing office. But all were successfully installed as usual.

I went to the start menu folder in c: and went inside the folders of the installed software and change permissions,
then the shortcuts were appeared in the start menu but not working, i have attached a screenshot.
