Start up and logging in question

I recently did a clean install to windows seven that went successfully. My user account currently has no password, so when I boot up my lap top it would just go to the welcome screen and then load my desk top. Since last night though, it seems to take a tad longer to load the welcome screen and now just loads the screen where I push the button for my user account and then proceeds with loading my desktop. It's not a big deal as I'm the only user on this computer and have no password, but why is it doing this now, and how can I make it to where it doesn't do that?

You can type "netplwiz" in the search box click on the resulting exe and highlight your account and uncheck "users must enter user name and password"

This will make the machine just go to your desktop when you restart

It's not asking me to enter anything though when I do it, Once I click on my user account box at the welcome page it just goes to loading the desktop. I guess the best way to describe it is if I were to hibernate my lap top, turn it back on, and then when it resumes it does what I described. I know that is normal for resume from hibernation, so I'm not worried about that.

I understand, I don't know why this change happened to you. Probably some change in user accounts.

Doing this should prevent you from having to see the "splash sceen" with your user name. If you have your account highlighted, it should log you on from now on.....even though you don't have a password.

Is this the netplwiz things you were referring to so I know I'm on the same track?

Yes, highlight your account and uncheck the box at the top. It will then log you on without having to click your account at startup. Hope this helped.

If you are wondering what caused this, it was probably caused by adding an account, then deleting it or activating the guest account.....something like that.
