Hi Guys,

Just wondering if you can give me some hints on what s going on:

: Laptop Vaio VGN-N130G
RAM : 1GB
OS: Win 7 Pro. 32bit

I changed the HDD recently and installed Win7

It all installed smooth with all the drivers etc from the sony website

But an issue crops up at start up. After turning it off for the day and first start up the next morning it freezes (usually at the windows start up screen.). It has to be restarted using the power button kept pressed down. Then it starts up and seems to work normally. Any subsequent restarts do so without any hitch...it only seems to happen when it is powered off for a long period of time!! (sorry thats my lay observation...maynot be relevant at all)

This computer came with XP MCE and this issue was apparently present with MCE, Win 7 RC and now the Win 7 installation.

This is my younger sister's computer...and I know she not the most careful person but I know it hasn't really had any trauma such as being dropped etc so as to cause inflicted physical damage..

what i do notice is a beep on and off...its a long one beep which seems to come occasionally. I m i right in assuming its from the Bios? Its a phoenix tech. bios.

I m trying to get pointed in the right direction in what to look for.

Many thanks for any help

Hi Thanks for the response

The new HDD is : Seagate Momentus 5400.4 ST9160827AS - Hard drive - 160 GB - internal - 2.5" - SATA-300 - 5400 rpm - buffer: 8 MB

A whole bunch of diagnostic tests were run on it today, motherboard, ram etc...and all of them came back fine...i m just at a loss as to what it could be causing it...
