When I go to start up repair I just get the black screen+cursor. ALSO, I retried using my Windows 7 Install disc. The same thing happened but this time the window asking me to repair my computer appear (Keyboard type, location, etc.) I pressed next and was also able to get to the page that asked if I wanted to Install or Fix my computer. However, both choices end up not taking me anywhere. For setup, I get Setup is Starting and the circle looping forever. For repairs, I just get the looping circle. The CD also stops spinning at this point.

If anyone has any idea what's going on with my computer, I would greatly appreciate the help. Thank you!

I've not encountered what you're describing but it's certainly possible that others have experienced the same or similar circumstances. My gut feeling is you may have no choice but to completely reinstall Windows 7 as well as all of your other programs, etc.

Let me escalate this up to our "more help" level and see if some other forum members have any ideas. Hang in there, it may take a while for some additional replies.

Thank you guys for the help.
I'm now running the windows memory diagnostic test- let's see if it helps.
I do not mind reinstalling new windows, but when I try to reinstall, the setup never finishes.

So I really do not know what to do. How can I delete everything?

Couple of questions to try to better assist you with a clean install. First, what kind of installation media do you have? Is it a full install disk or an upgrade disk or a manufacturer's recovery disk? Second question, is your BIOS set to boot from your optical drive first?

After booting from the CD/DVD do you see a black screen that says "Press any key to boot from CD" and do you press any key like the space bar or shift, etc? If yes, what happens next?

There's a couple things that can stop a computer from finishing a clean install (or taking hours to do it.) It could be a bad installation disk or the disk got damaged in some way. Or a hardware problem like a failing hard drive. Could you post your system specs for us? At the top of every Forum page is a "User CP". Click on that and in the left column click on "Edit System Spec". Fill in as much info about your computer as you can.

Also, did your computer come with Windows 7 pre-installed or did you upgrade from Vista or XP? If it came with 7 when did you buy the computer and from where? (Warranty may still be good.)

I'm going to be away from my computer for about 2 hours but others may jump in with some more suggestions.

Ok. I edited my computer specifications with what I knew. My computer came with windows vista but I deleted it and installed windows 7 about an year ago. My laptop was bought in 2008. It's been working fine since then.
