I think the best explanation is given in the second link that I gave you, but in summary
Run the computer for 8-10 passes.
Then take a good ram stick and test it in all the slots for 8 passes. If you pass those tests, your memory is not the problem

Here's a video for how to access your RAM correctly to do the advanced RAM testing. Remember to touch the case before touching the chips:

When you've finished testing the RAM with memtest, test the HD using maker's diagnostics/repair extended CD scan: HD Diagnostic
Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp

Once hardware is tested good, reset the CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

Where did you get Win7? Did you burn the DVD yourself? If so, confirm ISO integrity or download another, burn another DVD using ImgBurn at 4x speed.

Try writing the Win7 DVD to flash stick: Install UltraISO trial version, on File tab select Open DVD, on Bootable tab Select Write Disk Image, Format stick, Write. Boot stick under USB, REmovable or HD's.

Run Startup Repair several times regardless of what it reports, then post back the final results.

Hej Gregrocker,
I am into pass 7 now with memory test, so far no errors are detected. When the test finishes, I'll try to do the hard disc diagnosis.

Thank you.

Hi Guys,
Just to update you all on my problem. I have finally my computer working. The memory was fine, but problem was with the hard drive. A friend of mine opened my computer, took out hard drive and deleted formated all the drives.

When we put the HD back, and tried installing using the same installation disk, it worked. So there were some corrupt files in the older version. And the performance of my Hard drive is very low, one softwares says just 21% performance so I have to buy a new one later.

But mates, thank you very much for your help, I appreciate it.

Thank you!!

IMHO anytime a hard drive needs to be repaired it needs replaced. It will never get better only worse.

Hi again,
You know when I installed new windows every now and then my computer gets stuck. I can not click anywhere and now I am running my computer in safe mode with networking.

My computer has 1024 MB RAM and 76 GB hard disk, it's lenovo T60 that I bought four years ago.
So should I upgrade my computer to 4 GB memory and 160 GB new hard disk, or should I buy a new comp.

I use heavy programmes like petrel or making geological models, and even revit at times. So what would be the best solution, the cheapest and most durable to get myself a computer that works fine.

Please write me your opinions, I would really appreciate it.

Regards
Hiren

Run the maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan followed by Disk Check which together can return a failing HD to service although you should always keep the Win7 image and files backed up externally.

Hi mate,
I do not know how to do the HD test. Do I have to pay for downloading the software?

Find the HD maker then download the maker's repair ISO to burn to CD, boot the CD and run the Extended scan.
