start up slow and how to speed up comp

Do you have Daemon Tools installed? Daemon Tools does not work well with 7 and it is a good idea to remove it if you do have it.

open task manager and post a list of running processes at startup.. that will help. You could try disconnecting all peripheral hardware (printers, webcams, external drives, etc) and disabling everything in the startup tab of MSconfig. That alone should cut your boot time to less than a minute. Then start reattaching hardware and enabling startup items in msconfig one at a time and restarting until your boot time slows down again and you will have the source of your problems.

i do not have daemon tools but how come that thing comes up about the drive

Not having Daemon tools, and not having it anymore a little different. For some reason, your computer is still trying to run the driver for it at startup. For the first time in my life, I'm going to recommend trying Ccleaner. It might remove any registry entries, files, etc. the was left behind when Daemon Tools was removed.

You'll have to disable it from the services list in MSconfig, then delete it from the registry in order to get rid of it completely, which can be accomplished with a simple search in regedit for instances of sptd

I would make sure the SPTD problem is actually fixed. If it is fixed, have you noticed in change in boot time/

I have one idea. Go into bios and switch from AHCI to IDE, and see if you still have the problem.

Every where I look, people say that switching to IDE solves the problem.

Goto Control Panel\System and Maintenance\System
Click on "Advanced System Settings" on the left panel
Under "Startup and Recovery" select "Settings"
Make sure you have a check mark beside "Write and event to the system log"
but if i tick it and click ok i went back to it and it was unticked it seems it will not let me tick it

I this point I would try opening an elevated command prompt and running SFC /SCANNOW.

If that doesn't fix anything, a repair install might.

Did you at least try SFC /SCANNOW?

Seriously, a lot of what I've read suggest a clean install. I figure a repair install might have to same effect without you having to reinstall all your programs.

if your bios isn't up to date, do that first, and you might not have the same errors after reinstalling windows, but I think Petey7 is right when he says you may have to reinstall windows.
