I have loaded 7 on my machine which was previously XP.
On switching on the machine the screen goes to a black and white page of notes were windows 7 is highlighted. It invites me to return if that is to be the platform.
it starts to open and then pauses because it wants to configure downloads, presumably from the last time it was open. After 5 mins it then tells me it is reverting the changes which takes another 2 mins.
All told it takes 7 mins to get to the password option.
Once the password is put in it takes only seconds before the machine is up and running.

When I have finished ans request to close down it then wants to download 179 updates which takes ages.

I have now turned off the automatic updates facility, but this is not the answer surely?
roger is
