Just a question :
so much resources are normal...?
CPU meter is first idle, second "StartOrbz" running...

With the graphics animations, that would be normal. Wouldn't bother me on my laptop.

Runs fine on my dev pc, but its hella fast. Runs very slow on my laptop.

Go to the settings page and turn of the background animation. Restart StartOrbz and check again. There should be a drop.

A Slight problem

I just started using the app, and all the features are great. However when I create a new orb and try to load it, it appears to large on the taskbar and a little of the top is clipped off until I click on it. I was wondering if there was any way I could fix this.

You would have to manually edit the image and "pad" it so the image size is the same but the content is reduced.

The next build will allow you to easily adjust the size with ease.

I just uploaded version 2.0a.

It has some cool new options.


The 2 biggest things are:

Start Orb Projects, so you can continue working on your start orbs.

Windows Vista support. Before you get all excited, this is limited. Not all orbs will work properly. I found that EXPLORER.EXE converts the png to bmp to be used as a start button. Because of this we run into that old issue where pngs didnt convert properly to bmps. I have no fix for this. Vista users will either have to create orbs with no "glows" or use Genuine Creations that also do not have a "glow". Im just glad I was able to do it. You still need to manually "patch" the proper theme files.

I thought about individually resizing the images. But that would take a lot of work.

Best thing to do is use photoshop and "shrink" the image without reducing the actuall image dimensions and use that as the smaller size.

Just thought this program might be useful to some people:

It converts between 32 bit tga, bmp and png formats while properly preserving the alpha channel. To use it, just open the program, select the format you want to convert to, then drop your image into the program window.

Hi!!

OMG, this is an awesome work!! I don't know if you still are developing it, but I really want to use it. The problem is that when I run the .exe the app doesn't start. I can see the peek of the task bar but I can't see the program so I really don't know what is really going on. Also, in the screnshotss I was that you have like an initial window that for me never appears.

Can you help me? I've tried to run it as admin but it doesn't works

Ok, I found the problem! for some reason the program opend at the very top of my screen, I had to use the move command to take down it to work
