Hi,

New to the forum here, hope to get some help

Running windows 7 ultimate 32 bit on my computer, which ran fine until recently, where the taskbar will stop responding after I booted my computer, which eventually leads to the entire system freezing. Usually a reboot solves the problem but that stopped working today, with my computer freezing every time I start it up.

Tried starting my computer in safe mode and used system restore to restore my com, it worked one time but the driver for my network adapter wasn't working, tried rolling back to a previous version, which worked for a few minutes before it froze again. Safe mode now stops loading at \windows\system32\drivers\classpnp.sys

Now it eithe BSODs halfway through the splash screen at startup or just jumps straight to startup repair every time I boot my computer, but doesn't seem to get anything done, errors are posted below:

problem signature:
Problem event name: StartupRepairOffline
Problem signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem signature 03: unknown
Problem signature 04: -1
Problem signature 05: AutoFailover
Problem signature 06: 5
Problem signature 07: NoRootCause
Os version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.265.1
Locale ID: 1033

Diagnostic and repair details:

Repair action: system files integrity check and repair
Result: failed error code = 0x4005
Time taken = 5678 ms

Registry is corrupt.

Repair action: registry roll back
Result: failed error code 0x2
Time taken: 60559 ms

Tried following the following guide, but didn't seem to work :( http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/139576-startup-repair-infinite-loop-recovery.html

The drive in which my os is installed in also seemed to have changed, from C: to E:, not sure what caused that.

Would appreciate any help please, thanks :)

Hello Doenut and welcome to Seven Forums.

One of the Forum experts prepared a couple of troubleshooting tutorials that may help.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219533-troubleshooting-windows-7-failure-boot.html

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/220165-troubleshooting-steps-windows-7-a.html

Considering all you've tried, I think I'd just go straight to a Repair Install. If this doesn't get your machine working I'd be concerned about failed (or failing) hardware. And then I'd try using the second troubleshooting tutorial to narrow it down.

Not able to do a Repair install cause I can't get into windows at all now, the most I can get to is the boot splash screen :(

I'll try the 2nd tutorial, see how it goes.
