Hi all, thanks for reading my post.

I've read through other Startup repair infinite loop threads and wanted to post a new one. My computer had frozen in Windows and so hard reset it, and upon rebooting, I ran the Startup Repair, and after it finished, I could no longer boot into windows, it gets stuck in the loop.

I have the hard disk as first priority boot order.
I've ran through the startup repair 3 times, and 4th time right now.
Running in Safe Mode does not escape me from the startup repair loop.
Loading last known good configuration doesn't work
Loading windows normally doesn't work.

I am ready to do a clean install but I need to get back in first to export some important files from software first.

Restore points are missing, backups are missing. SFC Scannow says I still have startup repair pending.

Any help, or do you need more information from me?

Thank you so much,
All the best,
Chris

Hello Chris mate if getting back the data is what you need to do before you go clean installing (if that is what you are thinking of) try this
BOOTABLE UBUNTU
Make a bootable Ubuntu disk Get Ubuntu | Download | Ubuntu
Set the BIOS to boot from the optical when the machine boots it will show you a screen with TRY or INSTALL > select TRY not INSTALL
When it is finished - it takes very little time you will get a screen like in the pic .
Open the drive you want > User and dig down until you get to the data / settings you may be able to copy / paste the material you want to an external source or other installed drive doing this.
I am not sure if it will but I have recovered tons of data etc using this method both on "dead" or just plain drives that you cannot get data from using Windows.

There is another Linux method using Mint but I find this way is easy and I like disks.

Then you might like to have a read through this http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219533-troubleshooting-windows-7-failure-boot.html
