Solved Startup repair menu doesn't see an operating system

Hey greg... I got another prob on repairing the windows $. Its my friend laptop. I did the same way they way u show here. But when i try to replace the partition on command prompt. Theres only one partition (0). As i remember when i type the list partition, there should be more than one partition to when i select the partition. Do u know how to fixe that?

What are you trying to do exactly? Trying to "replace a partiiton on command Prompt' isn't understood.

If you're trying to reinstall, just unplug all but the target HD, boot into Installation DVD, select Custom install, choose the target HD, use Drive Options to delete all partitions, click Next. Clean Install Windows 7

Do u know the 3 times on startup repair with reboots. After that we have go to the command prompt to do the diskpart. And select disk #. that laptop windows just only have 0 partition. So no partition that i can replace. Do u know what im saying?

The windows is not listed when i try to repairing using the repairing disk.

In that case I'd test the HD with maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan.

In case the Diskpart is the problem you might want to boot free Partition Wizard bootable CD to mark Active the Win7 partition or its 100 mb System Reserved partition (preferred if you have it). If you do this, then click the Disk # to highlight it, from Disk tab select Rebuild MBR, Apply, reboot. This may preclude the need to run Repairs.

I think i have to give up... Its kinda complicated than my first case. The problem is same problem. But i dont know y when i replece the disk partition... The result always failed...

What partition are you trying to replace with Diskpart, and for what reason? What was done with the PC that is causing it not to start now? Have you run Startup Repair repeatedly? What does it report?

Ok. Do u remember about the bootmngr is missing when the start up. So itried to ur method on the forum. I did repeatedly three time with reboot. And do the diskpart. And after that startup repair again till three time after reboot. But its still the same. Cant be done. Still on the black screen and mesgs said that i have to put in the recovery disk to do the repair... U know that right if been repair, the windows 7 should be listed on repair system...

Try opening the Command Line from System Recovery Options,
type bootrec.exe /fixboot
followed by bootrec.exe /fixmbr

Now close the Command Box and see if Startup Repair gets any traction, reboot to see if it shows an installation now.

I all ready gave it back my friend's laptop. Ill let him know.... Thanks man... Really apprecite that. I think i have try bootrec before. As i remember its seems like nothing after bootrec.
A question for u. Are ya working at some IT company????

And its kinda fast that i can get about 700s mbps when i download files from internet. But its seem like the conection is unstable especially when the webpage loading. Sometime its takes about 1 min to get the whole webpage. And sonetime its stuck in the middle and stop... Do u know what happend about the connection unstable. Is probelm on wireless router or the charter probs or the setting probs??? Thanks

I linked you to the official Win7 installation ISO with SP1. This is the top Win7 Installation forum in the world which has helped tens of thousands of users and we do not link to pirated or questionable software.

Why didn't the installation complete? At what step here did it fail and what is the exact error message: Clean Install Windows 7

You can use the Product Key from your COA sticker during install, then afterwards activation may require a quick robocall to MS to get it setup in their servers.

Sometimes when you go online to activate the Product Key from the COA sticker it requires you to make a telephone robocall to trade a series of numbers that marries your hardware signature to the Product Key. Subsequent reactivations to the same hardware are then able to be done online.

Just be certain to use the same version Win7 and you'll be fine. The call only takes a few minutes, and sometimes isn't required.
