Startup Repair

Do you have any USB devices plugged in? Unplug them if you do. Also, instead of restarting your computer, have you tried shutting it down, then turning it on?

i have unpluged every single device, the only thing that is connected to the computer is the computer charger. When im on the system Recovery options it gives me 2 options below
One of them is Shut down and the other is Restart. i have tried both of them. when i choose restart it restarts and goes to startup Repair.
When i press shut down it just shuts down. and when i turn the computer on, it goes straight to startup Repair again.

It would be best to use another computer to make a System Repair Disc - Create so that repairs run from the built-in System Recovery Options are not dependent upon possibly corrupt System files.

Run Startup Repair repeatedly with reboots, then System Restore progressively back. Next from the options Command line run SFC -SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot.

If this fails use the Win7 Repair CD to copy out your files: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

Then run Sony factory Recovery from boot, order your Sony Recovery disks, or find a Win7 installer for your version to clean reinstall Win7 with the Product Key on COA sticker: Reinstalling Windows 7

Remember also that you have a full year's tech support included in the purchase of the Sony, so you can call Sony Tech Support for help as they may have a known fix for Intel Storage software failure. The only storage software component which I allow on a clean reinstall is HD protection which parks the HD during laptop transport. It is more likely the disk monitor which malfunctioned and may be a known issue to Sony tech support. They can also walk you through factory recovery or provide Recovery Disks.

That has to do with removing Norton completely ... we're thinking that Norton is causing the startup repair loop :(

I haven't used the tool you refer to for file rescue. You can use the Win7 DVD or Repair CD to copy out your files following the steps in the link I posted above. Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

You should have the disks to run the Repair steps given also.

Another method to rescue data is free Paragon Rescue CD. Paragon rescue disk; change drive letter; recover data

I used the Firstt link you have me, it worked me wonders. now i have all the files i need in my backup, thankyou so much! (:
