Anyone know any good alternatives? I've tried Returnil, but it wreaks havoc with my system. Any suggestions on another program that will wipe a virtual account when it is shut down/logged off?

Disk Write Copy is supposed to use the shadow copy mechanism so that your "real" system files are not accessible. I never tried it and don't know anyone that has. Somebody from the software vendor told me on a forum though, that the download "demo" copies are actually fully functional trials.

They claim both 32 and 64 bit support.

edit: also someone mentioned Deep Freeze. I forget if it does 64 bit or not.
But you can google.

Hello Blackrose,

There are very small chances to get the sandbox apps for the 64bit operating system. I have been looking for the one for some time without luck. Had to install the 32bit OS as the dual boot just to run the Sandboxie. Please, let me know if you find something which will run on 64bit OS without crashing it. Thanks in advance.

Cheers...

I use Sandboxie too. I'm bummed I can't use it on Vista64, but at least it works on my 32 bit W7. They came out with another build of Returnil Oct 12. But, to be honest, I'm waiting for some early adopters to be the guinea pigs. Besides, I'm not all that thrilled about recovery mechanisms that rely on a reboot. Seems like if a nasty gets through it's going to try to get at the MBR or delete your partition or booting info. On 64 bit systems I rely on frequent image backups. Something like Sandboxie would be ideal though.
