I have a network at home with 4 desktops. Each desktop can see the other's hard drives (I just shared them by right clicking on the drive | Properties | Sharing). All works fine.
One desktop has 2 nics in it. One nic for the home network, the other nic to the modem/router for internet connection. I only access the internet on this desktop.
Problem is I now find my wireless laptop can see the hard drives on this desktop with the 2 nics. On the laptop I goto
- Start
- \\MyDesktop
and my desktop drives, folders appear!!!
I can also see the laptop from the desktop!!
Notes:
- running Win7 Pro on desktop, Win7 Home Basic on laptop
- using same UserName/Password on every desktop/laptop
- running ESET Smart Security 8 on desktop, Microsoft Security Essentials on laptop
Is there a hard and fast rule to setup this kind of network? How should I block this desktop from wireless mobile devices?
cheers,
Jed
