Solved Strange "Command Prompt Error" Messages on Startup

Hi,

After booting up my laptop (Dell studio 7 running Windows 7 Premium 64) today, two strange "Command Prompt Error" message appeared. They had something like "Hidden Startup" as the window title (I might not have remembered this completely accurately as I didn't think to take a screenshot or save them at the time).
I haven't seen these messages before, and since rebooting they haven't returned.
Is there a way of viewing them again so I can work out what they are and what might have caused them to appear? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There may be others that know how to review the messages but before that
run an anti virus scan
Download and run a full scan with malwarebytes
Run a full scan with eset online.

You can look in Event Viewer and see if anything shows up there.

Hi richc46 and Ztruker, thanks for the advice.

I've run the scans you suggested and none of them found anything malicious.

I've also looked through event Viewer but haven't been able to find anything resembling the error messages I saw, but admittedly I'm not very good at reading Event Viewer logs - is there a particular section in Event Viewer I should be looking at?

You need to look through all sections. Best way is to reboot and note the exact time the error occurs then look at Event Viewer around that time, see what shows.

If the messages have not returned I'd say forget about them. If it happens again, do a screen capture and post here.

Use msconfig, turn off all startup items accept your AV, re boot, does it still show up ?

AddRam, he said the messages have not come back. If they do msconfig is a good way to figure out what is causing it though.
