Strange dialog box - HP Laserjet P2015

Hi All

I installed a local printer and left it running because it was taking ages searching w7.

It is an HP Laserjet P2015 on a USB port and seems ok and setup correctly because it is in my Printers folder as default.

However whenever I try printing something, I see the printer in the printer dialog and click ok - immediately it pops up this weird new dialog box as if it wants me to select the printer again...

I do not know what to enter - my printer is not a network printer, it cannot find the printer and I cannot cancel the dialog box.
When I kill the word task, I get a message saying the doc has been sent to the printer, but nothing is sent to the printer....

Please - can anyone shed some light on this?????

Hi Zubo and Welcome to the forum. First of all, please let us know if you are using a 64bit or 32 bit OS. Press Windows Logo key+Pause/Break Key. Now Look under System type.

Guessing that you are using a 64 bit OS, uninstall all the old printer drivers and restart your computer. then install this driver:

Hi dinesh - sorry I missed that - No the OS is not 64 bit it is 32 .

nothing is easy.....

started off ok, but failed at the end see

windows 7 recognized the failure and asked me to have another go installing slightly differently - that failed too

forget it guys, just tried a test print - no weird dialog box - just printed fine
