I recently switched from Mac to PC, and I would like to transfer my iTunes library (preferably with all the playlists intact) via external harddrive.

I uploaded all my iTunes data to the drive making sure to consolidate my library first so that all my playlist/rating data would be uploaded as well. I have about 12,000 songs, so this process took several hours.

I hooked up my drive to my PC, and I tried dragging the music folder to various locations (My Music, desktop, etc.)

It seems like the copying process starts (it says time/speed is calculating and that it is starting to detect more and more GB of data), but then it mysteriously stops and the update box disappears. There is no error message. When I try to drag it one more time, nothing happens.

Any help with transferring my music would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it might be having an issue with your external hard drive. What file system is the external hard drive formatted with?
