Hi all, I'm new on the forums. Best Windows 7 forums btw, have helped me a lot.

So I'm having two different or same kind of problems. I really need help to solve these!

• Problem number one:
I'm having a strange freezing problem. Sometimes randomly my desktop freezes. I can't right-click any icons, remove icons or do anything for them. To solve this problem every time I need to reboot or log off and log in again. Then Sometimes my explorer.exe -process dies randomly and same kind of problem appears. Any fixes?
• Problem number two:
I'm the system administrator, but sometimes randomly I don't have an access to change some directories or files. Sometimes if I download a file, I can't save it to the desktop. What is this all about and how I can solve this?
Specs:
• CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 4,4GHz
• Mainboard: Asus P5Q Pro
• GFX: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4850 Mb
• Memory: 4 Gb Exceleram DDR2 1110MHz
• Soundcard: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer
• Storage: ~1 Tb
• OS: Windows 7 Ultimate OEM 64bit newest version
Everything else works fine still, but these are two annoying problems I'm facing.

Thanks, xoxo

ur second problem is caused by the application experience service not running. by having that disables you will get that permissions error after you navigate into any newly created folder. if this is not the issue then something else has altered your permissions

Hi and welcome to sevenforums

First I wanted to say thanks for filling in your system specs they really help.

Lets tackle the first problem. can you go into event viewer (type event viewer in search) go to the windows logs, application tab. Look for errors (red "X" in left column) that relate to explorer, or any application stopping. If explorer is there (and it will be) use the built in snipping tool (type snipping in search) to take a screenshot of the event and upload it to us using the attachment icon (shaped like a paperclip) in the reply form

Thanks again and let us know if y ou need help with any of this

Im going to take three shots in the dark.
1) your overclocking reset it back to defaults and test the system
2) it could be a heat issue.
3) you don't list a power supply wattage.

Lets see here, E8500 at 4.4 GHz with some off brand Ram running at 1110MHz and you are wondering why you are getting freeze ups?

Unless your substantial overclock has been stablity tested to the max with Prime Blend, linux, OCCT you can't say that this problem isn't related to unstable overclocking which I'am sure is the case here.

I'd say problem number one here is that your overclock is not completely stable.

Suggest you fire up Prime 95 and see how long you can run the Blend test for.

Its not a totally freeze-up. I can do anything else, but desktop is freezing somehow.

I've got a good power supply, it isn't the problem. Also my temperatures are 25 degress idle and under maximum testing still cool. So it isn't a heat issue too.

The explorer problem is caused by the DEP in your system control panel. It should be on for all programs.

start?control panel>system control panel>advanced settings>performance settings>DEP tab on for all apps

DEP (data execution prevention) prevents apps from wriiting into system areas of ram causing freezes and BSOD's

If you want to know more there is a good tutorial on dep here in vistax64
