stuttering in games. (mainly valve)

for some reason now i think it might have to do something with my sound it now crackles from time to time

This is likely from some kind of CPU throttling, either in the motherboard bios or software that runs in Windows.

I couldn't look at your file because I have no idea what a .dem is.

ok i think i am ready for some testing that you wanted me to go threw..

let me explain why, the stuttering that i had before is gone... there is a new type. its almost like a lag type thing and i cant explain it in detail. if you guys will be kind to put me threw the instructions of doing what you wanted me to doing for further testing im READY.

for some reason now i think it might have to do something with my sound it now crackles from time to time, i have a tf2 demo if you guys want me to upload to kinda show you what its doing.

I also get these quick freezes in the new codmw2 so i dont think its only valve games anymore.

RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

there is a demo you can see some parts where i kinda get stuck for a split second.

hmm, I'm beginning to suspect the hard drive is defective.

If it has bad quality sectors the drive will have to re-read it several times.

they are probably not bad enough to be marked as bad (yet).

I would suggest you clone your system to another harddisk and see what that brings.
One can never have enough hard disk space, so it's not like you will be buying a disk for only this test.

greetings.

i dont get it thought, i went from caviar green which was causing most of my games to stuter to this 1, is my luck really that bad???

just a quick suggestion on my part idk if it makes any sense but... since i have my caviar green internal and also my caviar black internal, you think the green has something to do with it???

and the .dem if you have tf2 you stuff it in your tf2 folder and watch it threw tf2.

Im just scared that if i get another drive and it still continues idk what i will do.
Is there anything else i can possibly do?

oo i also failed to mention, while i was watching a show and installing something it had made my sound stutter on my tv show. so idk if its just the way some stuff is being optimized...

If he's getting that larg of hard drives he should also always have a smaller partition for OS/System files because of problems like this as well. Even if their isn't fragmentation if he installs a game after the hdd is 30% filled then that will be putting files in both the slowest and almost farthest away from system files. Smartfan will tell you if the hdd is failing and it'll tell you very well on all SMART enabled HDD's. I love the damn thing.

I'm having similar stuttering issues with COD4 as well... When I run the game, i get 150+ fps but then every 5-10 seconds the game seems like it freezes for a quarter-half a second... This doesn't happen all the time though. Sometimes, the game will run fine for the whole night, but then the next day it will stutter again..

I've tried lowering the settings, turning on/off AA and nothing seems to work. Last night I tested out MW2 and that didn't have any issues. Going to monitor it for a little more.

In the meantime, I'm re-installing COD4 and hoping that will fix the issue.

yea i get that same issue, im not to worried about that just because its running off other peoples connection, it doesnt always happen to me as well the last couple games i played it was ok.

its just in tf2 if you watch that demo you see how it freezes just a bit.

No, there's enough RAM as it is. The vast majority of games don't use any more than 2GB by themselves as it is.

so far what can we single out, can we say the processor is good? and the ram??? and the mobo??? can we at least say that much? or no?

i mean the stuttering with the sound looping in all is gone this is a diff type now.. and idk if call of duty was a good game to test it out on since this is being hosted off other peoples internet connection so i cant take the stuttering accounted for in there. for some reason i wanna say my sound card might have a small roll play in this.

ALSO if you guys want or are willing on sunday if you want to get in touch ill let you take over my computer so you can browse around threw it see if you see anything threw the program called Team Viewer let me know please.

and do these seem ok???

I get shuttering when I play css. The only thing different is win7 64bit from XP 32bit. Otherwise all my hardware is the same. My guess its some settings or option from windows7 that might be causing it.

My apologies if these have been asked before:

so far what can we single out, can we say the processor is good? and the ram??? and the mobo??? can we at least say that much? or no?

From the symptoms, I'd say yes. There have been no crashes, BSOD etc.

i mean the stuttering with the sound looping in all is gone this is a diff type now.. and idk if call of duty was a good game to test it out on since this is being hosted off other peoples internet connection so i cant take the stuttering accounted for in there. for some reason
Does the hitching occur in Single Player, or is it solely in multiplayer games?

i wanna say my sound card might have a small roll play in this.
Didn't you try that with out any sound card / onboard and the problem was still there?

ALSO if you guys want or are willing on sunday if you want to get in touch ill let you take over my computer so you can browse around threw it see if you see anything threw the program called Team Viewer let me know please.
I'm not familiar with it, so I'm afraid I can't help you there, but I do suggest being careful letting 'just anybody' remote in.

im really starting to hate my computer with a passion.

Can you record a movie of the lag using something like Wegame. I watched the demo you uploaded and didn't notice any lag. I believe the demo recorder in source games won't show frame rate issues when someone else watches the demo because it's just a recording of all the data from the game, that is why the file size is so small. If you go to wegame.com you can download their recorder and setup an account. It works like fraps recording videos of games but handles uploading videos to their site automatically for you.

seems like multiplayer havent really played an single players, dont have to many laying around all though i did just buy call of duty so i will check in that.

yes we did but that was with the stuttering and sound looping.
