Sudden odd behavior and not saving my setting

Hello folks
today with out me changing any settings that I remember, except add a firefox update,
my computer after a restart failed to bring Advast on, I restarted and got the flag window you see attached as a photo below about "Net Framework"
many of my tray icons would not appear, I went to do a restore, only to find the only restore point i had was today, I may have cleaned them out during a recent disk clean.
but I was able to tract one (old recovery point) down in my jet clean recovery which I ran and it cleaned up somethings tho some desk top short cut had to be put back in. Advast had to be turned back on
all this stuff started when I tried to enlarge a picture on the net, which some how instead enlarged my short cuts desktop home screen. and it would not shrink back hitting CRT - (minus)
right And after I did the new firefox install-
which i always fear for my life using a new FF download ever, cause it always screws something up, I dismissed it for weeks but today broke down and downloaded.
now comp comes on but I get the attached pic, it says I need a install net framework v4.0.3019
where do i get that , or can I delete the latest FF download out to no longer need v4.0.3019 ???
Boy "Sand Boxie" here I come after this.

PS I am running Kerperski scan now-update "Scan done" no issues

Update - cant run disk defragger
and I get this other flag

now disk defragger worked once, and now won't run again
and advast icon has disappered from bottom tray again, so I can't tell if its running????
As you dear reader might see as well, I am having a hard times with keepers my settings

Create an EXTERNAL backup NOW

What printer do you have Brother ??
If so is it integrated into your system, i dont just mean drivers for the printer
Open your picture library, if its intigrated you will see Brother 2nd line under the action options, File/view etc
So whats he talkin about your thinking
The second screenshot you posted relates to a program installed by Brother. TwDsUi
(the Ui bit infers integration - and it will affect your desktop, background operation)
Has this been recently updated??
is so roll back - turn off auto update first, within brother
if that fails i would unistall it.

Now as for Avast!!!, not Advast, and disk defrag

Disk - have you changed the scheduler within its options
note not required if you have an SSD

Avast - has an auto updater Task, which is run as soon as you logon, not sure if it doesn't update that the icon dissappears because of your icons notifications settings.

1. I have 88 GB's of system stuff to backup, So I need to go get a monster Flash Drive?
2. yes I have a brother printer, it works wonderfully,
have zero idea what a brother picture library is?
please instruct

Also FYI I have the big brother program in my 7, which I think has telemetry, the striped down simple one does not,
do you think I can exchange for the simple one.

UPDATE

as of this writing brother will not let me in until I install the frame network program.
reflection tells me its brother crap doing this, about the time I bought it, my settings started screwing up., I will call them Monday, and with them on phone will dump the bells and whistles program and install the zero nonsense and telemetry one.
and then with them on phone do the rest as you suggested as far as they will hold on.

finally, got into task scheduler, all tasks are set for on, but other wise it will not respond to my commands got a screen shot of the "On Switch" ????

which i have cause windows site just told me its in there
it appears tho some programs only activate when called upon.

why am i now uninstalling?
plus git hub is beyond understanding to me, simply not a clue whats its used for

IF you only need your printer to do simple stuff you really only need the drivers, not all the bells and whistles that go with it which is where the problem is. i would uninstall it (brother) no need to do anything with Netframework

as for the updates, you can uninstall them in windows updates, use the kb no:s in the link.

yes, and thank you, I feel that too, I tried to just use the MS print command but it would not start printer
For All Who use brother print, when you down load brother program with tech on phone line STOP
try the simple program first, I accidentally tried to use the 32 program, but i am a 86,
and gave up, did not try the 86 and tech was not bringing that up either,
so as stated above, he opens on Monday and he will take out bells and whistles program, and we will try
just the 86 simple driver.

Thanks Roland, that "Just So Relevant", while I cant even get the programs that make those Icons
to come up anywhere, and pull my hair out and start to really look like my Avatar.
Be very thankful I just ate too much gourmet "Blue Berry Cheese Cake with honey graham cracker crust " (God was that good) and am willing to let this event just go by.

Roland, emotional turbulence aside, could you please tell me in terms a completely stupid person can understand, how to go into my 7 and lower the "safety elevation" slide thingy down, so my anti virus will be able to turn on,
currently I am going 17 layers below hell into my computer to turn it on.

PS If you don't receive this post, the hackers got me, don't pay the Ransom, I'm not worth it.

MY setting is OFF, not the recommended setting but i have faith in my "surfing and program installation behaviour"

Jim, in short, once all PinToTaskbar icons were present, I made a copy of that directory onto my data partition. I have RePinned and still can easily RePin from that directory copy.

OK I just got off phone with brother, they say you must download and use the full program
I said i just want the driver down load. they say that wont work, so deleted old, only to find it was still in my computer else where, so i deleted that file too, down loaded a new full and i got it started the full program, which is almost 500 MB. so I don't know what to ask.

All so MS says I already have a .net frameworkv4.0.30319 but i still get pop up saying I need it.
I really know how hard you guys work, so I try to bring humor and gratitude to my threads
but i am not laughing now, printer works. pop ups says it wont, MS says I already have the net frame work.

Roy, how can I dump brother bohemiath huge program that has telemetry, install brother simple driver.
and end getting the warning pop up I left in another post.

Hi Jim,

no big surprise that Brother wanted you to install the Full package.
Course it will work with just the drivers, like i said I've only got the drivers on my Epson printer works fine
Please open Device Manager, we need the driver details ie brother printer ie ab234
select brother, then RIGHT click >> properties
see screenshot, i know its intel, just so you get to the right place

now please follow this link,
Downloads, drivers & software | Brother

select your device and choose drivers only, --save the file

UNINSTALL Brother from programs and features

REBOOT

Turn on Printer, is it showing in, control panel -- Devices & Printers, if not select Add printer, top left
Comp will search for it, as you have had it previously connected it should add it
if the drivers are NOT present it will appear with an exclamation mark - time to install the drivers we downloaded
Test it.



As for the UAC screen dimming, its as it says,drops the brightness of the screen by about 20%, never thought of it as particularly usefull myself

and thanks for pics, I am way busy for a few days and will get back in here as time allows
and see where all this takes us

PS I am told by "brother" the stripped down driver never works
they say to check which you are 32 or 64 to click start, then system, then settings

UPDATE I found computer info, I am 32 as I thought, but having tried their 32 before and it not working, thought I was wrong. I will down load the 32 driver again latter, see if I can get it to work, be back here latter with results or lack of same. ha ha ha ha ha

ok i deleted what parts of brother i could dig out with a pick, cause it don't wanna move
down loaded simple driver from brother that works like a junk yard smells.
but I still can not open other programs cause i still need net frame work net frameworkv4.0.30319

please use exact names, there is no "picture library" but in "My Pictures" correct name-i found some brother junk and deleted it.
in task scheduler I found no screen as the one you posted, i did find a refresh, I refreshed, it says 5 program's have failed.
and some programs still do not open and still want a net frameworkv4.0.30319

this net frameworkv4.0.30319 will not install because i already have it,
i presume then something in task scheduler is still goofy ?????

so I assume the task issue is next, the picture was kind but it never got me there as you present in picture
and please remember i have not a clue in the world what 99# of all these initials your using mean.

Hi Jim,

Which programs can you NOT open.
As you have got the printer working with just the drivers --- if yes REMOVE brother using Uninstall in Programs/Features
UNLESS you know what your doing the above is the safest option
please provide the Brother printer model no:
Avast is a resource hog, personally i would use Bitdefender (free)
If you decide to opt for Bitdefender, use the Avast Uninstaller tool
Using the Uninstall Utility for Avast Antivirus | Avast
read it carefully i doubt very much you have sse2

i used the ms snipping tool to get the screenshots i posted


lets also see if the OS is corrupted.
please run sfc /scannow (note the space)
and kb947821, you will need to visit MS Update Catalogue, search for 947821 select the 6th line down-- size 456.3

if you feel upto it now, or wait a few days, i would also like to see the results of this tool-- download/save/run to DESKTOP

1. my avast is still not coming up unless I start it manually from the icon I put on extream left lower tool bar next to
start. I have set "changes to my comp" elevation low and high nothing changes, it is now on recommended 3 notches
up. how do i get comp to accept avast on start up.

4. is there a reason not to block MS updates for ever, and if NO.... how?

I like to read too, I watched/loved Dr. who for a short time in the 80's when tom somebody was the star, he never abused the girl, showed great taste and heart, he left and I "M" TV'ed for a while then tossed TV in trash as society went grunge, manic, suicide and who buried my daughter in woods crap. for me, when "Thelma and Louise" went over the cliff, good taste went down with them. .........mostly.
