Suggestions for inexpensive desktop speakers

I've got a pair of expensive JBLs on my desktop that just died. I don't think I want to spend the money to get them fixed as my audio requirements of late are just browsing and games, which I am terrible at.

I wont be using them for music or any serious audio adventures. Just want something that wont be tinny or produce noise.

What are you using? I'd like to spend under $50.

Wally World (Wal Mart) has some under $50 speakers (last time I checked).
www.newegg.com should also have some.

BTW, most (all that I've seen) PC speakers are not repairable, even high $$ speakers. (I have a recording studio with JBL LSR308 studio monitors).

I have the LSR2300. The JBL authorized repair center got bad reviews so I'm reluctant to go there. But, if they are not repairable, then I guess I'll just chuck them.

The LSR2300's are not the run of the mill PC speakers, but more studio monitors. That changes the game. But, I would still get a repair estimate (many have a $$ minimum).

I had a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 recording interface unit, out of warranty. The 3rd party service center (US service center for Focusrite equipment) quoted me a minimum of 2 hours labor ($100 per hour) and another $200 to replace the main board, plus shipping both ways. That was more than I paid for it new, plus the second time I had a problem with it. I dumped it and went to Roland Octa-Capture for my recording studio recording interface unit.
