With a widescreen monitor, it makes more sense to me to put the taskbar on the left side of the screen (vertically). This optimizes screen real-estate for most applications. But when the bar is on the side of the screen, it puts the start menu button at the top of the screen. Anyone know a way to flip it vertically?
Either way, if you have a nice widescreen monitor, i recommend trying the taskbar on the side of the screen. It takes a bit to get used to, but you may just like it better
