Swapping a board with a western digital my book essential 1tb

Looking closely at the board on the drive my eyes can see the heat burn marks that fried the drive. Fingers crossed that swapping with a like board will do the trick !

Mike I believe the other board isn't belong to your HDD but it is the board of your removable case (HDD enclosure), right? Normally HDD has only one board in it.

So you need to swap only HDD board, and don't put it back to its fried enclosure but connect it directly to any available SATA port on your Desktop PC.

The board you have circled was attached on top of the other one (not circled) I simply removed it.

Yes I mentioned it on previous post for that burnt and provide cautious steps if he is sure to go on with all possible risks.
Consider rescuing 800GB data and saving $nnn recovery fee.

Sorry mike I haven't read your last post.
Yes only that board that fits in the HDD need swapping. the other one is an enclosure board, do not use it. as you can see it has SATA port and Power port.
