System files won't defragment?

I recently did an Easy in-place reinstall from your tutorial...

After a thorough cleanup- I went to do the 1st Win 7 defrag (show Hidden/Protected files, Run as Admin)-
It showed C: as 1% fragmented, and System as 13% fragmented.

When I tried to defrag System, after an Analyze- Nothing Happened?

C: defraged quickly with 10 passes.

Q?- Do these System Files need to be defraged, and would performance be increased?

The fragmentation of this drive is of no concern and attempting to force a defrag of it may cause problems. Defrag only the partition containing Windows (almost always the C: drive) and any you have created yourself.

System Files can't be defragged when they're in use by Windows.
For this you would need something like Puran Defrag which runs before Windows loads.

There is little point in trying to defrag System. it is tiny.

I have done a little looking and it seem that hybrid drive are not to be defragged. The instructions of your drive should tell you defrag or no defrag.
I have found that Seagate says no to defrag but I can't find anything about WD.

The consensus on defraging a hybrid drive is mixed. It depends greatly on the details of your specific drive, and that may be difficult to obtain. Personally I wouldn't defrag such a drive unless I obtained information from the manufacturer that advised otherwise.
