Welcome!

Unfortunately, there are very few problems we can be sure that a certain fix will work. It is mainly trial-and-error, even for the best of us.

I suggest a system files check. Since vga.sys is a system driver, hopefully that will clean things up.

A driver issue could cause that. Hardware that interacts well with XP might not work so great with 7.

A corrupted installation could also cause that. Hopefully the SFC will fix that, but if not try a repair install.

If the SFC doesn't solve the problem, see if you can get a copy of the installation files on your hard drive. Then run the setup.exe file.

Go ahead and run the setup.exe file. Do note that the setup.exe file is not all you need; it must be in the same directory along with all the other files.

You wouldn't be able to Hybernate from Safe Mode. The nessesary drivers arn't loaded in Safe Mode so you would get errors.

When you Hybernate, your screen should go black and the System Should shut down. When you Boot back up, your system should be back at the point you left it. Maybe you are thinking about Sleep Mode. Hybernate Mode puts your system ram on to the hard drive and fully shut the computer down. Sleep Mode puts the computer in a very lowpower state, keeping the system ram active, so it is very quick to start back up.
