Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I have had the same 4 gigs of 2x 2 GB Kingston DDR2-667 ram in my mobo and only recently noticed the system was only recognising 3.37 GB (see in attached image). Now I know my mobo (see specs, second one) can handle x64 and 4 gigs of ram so any insight could be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

Hi

Have a look at this link and also this
Following is an excerpt from the 2nd link:

There could be two possibilities with this issue.
1. May be the maximum memory is not enabled in the BIOS.
2. Maximum memory is not configured in advanced boot options.

BIOS.
You can check with your BIOS manufacturer, about how to enable the maximum memory.

Check the advanced boot options.
1. Go to Start, in the search bar type msconfig and press enter.
2. System Configuration window will open on the screen.
3. Click on tab named "boot".
4. Click on "Advanced Options" and uncheck the box for "Maximum Memory".

Hope this helps and regards

I think your motherboard is limiting the RAM you can access. Can you download something like SIW and provide that information to us?

This makes the 3rd Intel 945G based board in the past 24 hours, all with 4 GB of ram and on 3 GB (a bit more on this one) usable. Anyway too lazy to type it out again,

Thanks for that, I knew it was going to be the stupid chipset. I used to have a chipset that worked with 4 gigs (back when I was a n00b) until the PSU blew (I didn't know at the time) and some friend of the family took it somewhere and they (knowing I was a complete n00b) took out the graphics and networking cards, replaced the pentium D i had with a sh*tty P4 and gave back the PSU they replaced just to make me think all they had done was replace the PSU. Ever since then I've been rebuilding my PC.
