System protection - "Current Usage" gradually increasing over time ???

System protection - "Current Usage" gradually increasing over time ???

For some reason the "Current Usage" amount is slowly increasing over time on my system.
It's not due to additional restore points being created, because i've checked, and there is only one restore point available / saved. Yet if I keep checking back at this dialog window, the value keeps going up.

Is this normal ??

Edit: After doing some calculations, and watching how fast the usage amount goes up over time. I can estimate that i'll be losing between 150 - 200Mb each day. That's over 1Gb a week. Ten weeks is then over 10Gb. And so on and so on. This can't be normal right ?

Thanks oscer. I'm assuming that the gradual usage increase i'm seeing on my win 7 machine is maybe a backend legacy version of what is now "File History" in win 8/10 perhaps ?

Still i'm in two minds about it. I like the option for pervious file versions and definitely want to keep system protection active. But seeing hard drive space drop by 200mb every day is kinda irksome.

Also just discovered that for some unknown reason Internet Explorer is downloading and saving all watched youtube videos to it's ..Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5 folder as "videoplayback[number].mp4" files. This is resulting in lots of unnecessary .mp4 files being stored. When I found this, it was at 30Gb of .mp4 files, which were just all the youtube videos that have ever been played in IE on this machine for the past however many months / years. Not sure why IE needs to save and store all this media content, or why the files don't have a expiration timer on them like most Temporary Internet Files do.
