Solved system re image frozen?

So earlier today I created a system image backup which I was planning to do monthly. Anywhoo after some failing OCing I rebooted into windows to find avast and some other programs messed up. I did a system restore and it still seemed to be a little messed up. So now I tried to restore from a system image I created earlier today. It got to about 10% or so and seems like it froze or is going tremendously SLOW! is this normal? How long should this take? I'm only restoring C drive which is only using about 50GB or so.


Yea its just going extremely slow.... How long is this going to take?

I assume you used Windows imaging - yukk. A restore of a Macrium image takes about 10 minutes from an internal disk to a SSD - 20 minutes from an external disk to a HDD.

I assume your image is kaputt. Maybe you can recover it - but don't forget the 100MB system partition.

Its going but incredibly slow. It's been 1.5 hrs and bearly at 25% I'm going from HDD to ssd.

I mean its an external HDD connected via sata.... Next time I will have to put the files on my internal HDD. Just going to be an all nighter for me I guess. Will it shut down or restart when complete?

Next time use Macrium. But send me a PM before you do and I tell you the best method.

I think in just going to stick to windows. I'll just have to put the image on my d drive next time. Guess windows doesn't like it on a ext HDD via hotswap.

welp everything is back to normal! it worked! 10 hrs later..... owell. next time i have to put the image on my D drive.

I don't think it was the problem of the external drive. Something else is wrong. Even from my slowest external USB2 drive I can restore an image that size in less than half an hour. But internal, eSata or USB3 drives are faster.
