System restore failed to extract file (d: \users\computer\downloads\back up from old machine \caprock securities backup\WA5PSetup.exe
The restore point was damaged or deleted during the restore
Where on earth is the restore looking for the file ?and why is it choosing a file I copied over when I upgraded the machine from xp to win 7 and not using a restore point.
is there a way to force it to use one of the 10 or so restore points it has saved.
P.S. I am doing this restore from the install disk as this is the main problem I am having

I did a chkdsk from command promt and I have done a sfc /scannow the chkdisk found a few errors in the files system ( empty space marked as data and corrected them but the sfc/scannow was clean
any ideas?
