Solved System service exception BSOD playing Starcraft 2

Ok, I now have only the 120GB drive connected. Now whenever I boot normally, I never get to the BSOD screen, I just see "Bootmgr is missing" on a black screen.

I booted from Partition Wizard and took a screenshot of the last step and attached it here. I also took a screenshot of the partition info tab in case it's needed. Thanks.

The first time I ran startup repair, I immediately got the popup "startup repair has found problems in Windows startup options". The second time, the startup repair ran and said "startup repair needs to reboot in order to complete the repairs". I rebooted and ran a 3rd time and it said it could not detect a problem.

Now, I do not see the bootmgr is missing screen, I get to the Windows starting animation screen but after that I get a very brief (<1 sec) BSOD and immediate reboot. But I was able to read that it says process1_initialization_failed.

So stop 0x6B BSOD again! I will take it as a confirmation that the SSD is failing.

You need to install windows on another disc, mate. :(

Alright. No problem. I guess that's the remaining possibility. Is it possible something is wrong with my motherboard?

I will do a clean install on my new SSD and let you know the results. Thanks.

Not impossible.

If you want to check, apply another disc on the SATA port to which the 120 GB SSD is connected. If that one also behaves in the same way, there will be a great possibility that the port is not working properly.

Ok. There are 8 total SATA ports that I have been using on my MB. 6 of them are brown and below them they say like SATA6G_1, SATA6G_2, etc. I assume those are for SATA III devices or 6 GB/s devices. There are 2 SATA ports besides those that are a different color (black) and I believe I have my DVD-ROM and older HDD plugged into them (maybe those are for SATA II). Those 2 ports read SATA3G_E1 and SATA3G_E2.

Attached is an image I found online.

I will try to figure out if it's a bad port or a failing disk.

Thanks.

The black ports (3 GBPS) are JMicron JMB362 ports.

Experiment with that port to which teh 120 GB SSD was connected. Most probably it is the SATA6G_6 to which it is connected.

Ok, I successfully installed Windows 7 on my new hard drive, and everything is booting fine. Anything I should do to clean up my old Windows installation on the 120GB SSD? I still can access it from Win7 now. Thanks.

Ok then. Shall I mark this as "solved"? I think we narrowed it down to a failing drive or possibly bad SATA port.

If you think that the issue is really gone and you can do your regular works flawlessly, you may mark this thread as solved.

EDIT: It was a good feeling to share a thread with you. You really tried to get rid of the issue, accepted suggestions and posted feedback elaborately and precisely. The issue was a hard one, but your efforts made it easy at the end.
