My computer turned itself off, but not normally. It was an abrupt shutdown, as if the power was cut.

I was downloading files, converting audio m4a - mp3 from my C drive to D drive, surfing, and listening to music.

The processor was at 100% on all cores.

Tj Max is 70*c the temps were at 73. I was about to close some programs but wasn't able to in time.

I'm using the same system now and everything seems fine.

How much damage could have been done b/c of this?

500GB WD 7200 rpm SATA II

Hi jago86.
Probably no damage this time if the system has booted OK. Check out the heatsink on the CPU for dust which may be compromising the cooling. If the temps are still high nearly causing thermal shut down it may be time for an after market cooler to keep those temps below 50C to give you some headroom.:)
I am typing this on a PC with an AMD CPU and the CPU is at 32C idling. I would recommend as you are in a warm climate a Cooler Master EVO 212 Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2 Continuous Direct Contact 120mm Sleeve CPU Cooler Compatible with latest Intel 2011/1366/1155 and AMD FM1/FM2/AM3+
You should check you have good case fans too.:D

That's a good idea, I will look into an aftermarket cooling solution.

Thank you!
