Solved System waking from sleep again.

I had this problem before and forgot what I did to fix it. I do have WOL for my Ethernet port disabled in the BIOS.

I noticed my computer turning itself back on at regular intervals. I checked powercfg -lastwake and it shows my Ethernet port. I then check the Application section of event viewer and I see that it looks like Display Fusion is waking the computer. I recently did a reinstall and I don't remember DF ever waking the computer. I also see no options to disable WOL or check for updates in DF.

Here is a snip from Event Viewer. You can see DF listed every 30 minutes. When I click on one it says "PowerEvent handled successfully be the service"

I know that you have probably already thought of this, but I'll ask the question anyway:

Is this setting set for your network adapter?

I found out what was causing it. If I disable "Check for updates automatically" in Display Fusion, the system stays in sleep mode. I never touched the settings in Power Management before or after the reinstall, maybe an update to DF caused this?

All it is is the following line which logs the last wake-up event to the file "C:\Wakeup.Log" you can edit the .bat to change the file and location if you wish

powercfg -lastwake >> C:\Wakeup.Log

I've just added it to the startup folder in the past when investigating spurious wake-ups and it adds each wake reason to the file automatically

Do you have wake on lan disabled in windows device manager? See Mellon's post above.

Since you have wol disabled in bios you must not want wol active, which means you should uncheck all the wake on XYZ boxes in your post #3. I have your adapter and have both Wake on Magic Packet options checked and the other two unchecked. This results on the machine never waking when I do not want it to, but I can still power-up/power-down the machine remotely with a magic packet command.

I have WOL disabled in BIOS because when this was happening some time ago, I disabled it and the computer would stay in sleep mode until I woke it be pressing space. I had everything set to defaults and it would sleep normally. I'm going to uninstall some programs and see if that helps. I'm also going to look through my older posts.

I left all the settings at default apart from disabling WOL in the BIOS.

It will happen sporadically. It didn't do it yesterday but the computer was on when I got up this morning.

Just one option that I have found can solve sporadic wakes - Check the power option for your Mouse or Mice - with today's mice having a lot more resolution and sensitivity, than was the case, the slightest movement of the Mouse can provide enough "feedback" to be seen as mouse movement and thus trigger a wake action. Unchecking the "Allow this device to wake ..." option can cure this.

This is more of an issue if you have cats This does not apply to many set-ups but with all the work you've already tried this may just finish things off.

There is supposed to be a timer that shuts the system down again if no further activity is seen for a set time after the wake is triggered - but I have known this to be switched off so that may be something to investigate

If I look in Event Viewer wouldn't it show USB (if woken by a keyboard/mouse) as a power event? Right now all I see is Display Fusion every half hour and "PowerEvent handled successfully by the service". I just uninstalled DF and will see what happens.

I think what it actually shows can depend on the mouse, If you look at your USB branch of the Device Manager (View - by Connection). you should be able to see what the Mouse is registered as - Should Include USB but some just show a generic name, I have multiple Logitech Wireless Mice and Keyboards attached to my systems, and just to be helpful they all show as "HID Compliant Device" as do my Wacom Tablets so may not include USB in the title

Do you have something scheduled to do things like Auto update or Auto scan that might be waking the system?

Woke up this morning to my computer sleeping.
Checked Event Viewer for any wake events and I didn't see any.

I guess Display Fusion was the cause of this. I'll see if there is anything in their FAQ, if not I'll shoot them an email.

I uninstalled Display Fusion and it was still happening but rarely. It kept saying something about a CDROM, which I don't have (internal anyway). I "fixed" my issue by not using sleep, a method a couple of users on this forum suggest I try.
