I haven't tried it since I had XP on this laptop and it worked fine in virtualbox, but I just tested it using SecurAble and it says the option is locked off, and I see no way to enable it in the BIOS.
Any ideas why it worked before but not now? (I'm using the same BIOS version , 1.43, and haven't made any changes to it since then)

intel says that the device actually does support virtualization. Check the acer support and download the lastest bios. It appears, that a bios version 1.45 was released. It may include new bios functions in the bios.
Good luck~!

I just updated to the v1.45 bios and there still isn't an option, and it's still locked off, but thanks for telling me anyway since it's probably fixed some other problem I didn't even know about :p

As far as I know, it is a manufacturer choice as to whether or not release a bios to unlock that feature. For example, Acer do not release it, perhaps for market choice; whereas Toshiba did, with its A200 models equipped with T7300.
Of course I do not agree with Acer, as I am not aware of public information on this issue, to justify it.

CPU support VT but no option in BIOS

For those who have CPU which supported VT/VT-x & no option in BIOS to enable it, please go to notebookreview forum & search for "Acer Laptop with Phoenix BIOS". I has explain there how I enable VT on my Acer Aspire 9420.

However I will not responsible for any problem you faced. My intention is just to share my experience.
