Running Win 7 Pro 64bit and Avast
In Task Manager | Processes, I see three instances of the same Hello.exe
None can be ended without doing a restart.
Under what conditions would Task Manager not be able to End a Process.
Could code in the exe prevent this ?
Or is there some Win setting that gets set when an exe is launched?
TIA for any ideas.
Bob

There are a number of ways a process can prevent it's termination with the standard methods. Antivirus software often uses such methods to protect itself from malware. Malware often does this as well and may even hide it's presence from Task Manager. The details of how this is done wouldn't make much sense to non programmers.

Have a look in your Piassa, blogging program, settings, which is where Hello exe stems from.

See if you can turn self protection on/off.
