Task manager won't work

Task manager issue

Task manager opens but it is an empty box with no data or tabs. I tried restarting the system but there is no difference. Any help?

Update: Process monitor appears to interfere. Used System restore.

If you set procexp to replace task manager and then remove that later, it can be that it didn't remove the debugger information in the registry (used to co-opt task manager itself) properly. Getting rid of the taskmgr.exe key under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\ is usually sufficient to fix this.
