Taskbar - Custimization question

If this is the wrong area to post this question, please excuse.
Also, this may going too far with the "neatnick" in me, however:

When I click on "show hidden icons", and then "customize", items show up there ("select which icons and notifications appear on the taskbar") which are no longer even installed on my W7 Home Premium system. How can I clean up this area so that what's offered to me matches only items on my system?

Alternatively you can google "Win 7 notification area cleanup" and you will also find a few tools to do it.
