Solved Taskbar turned white and wifi unable to detect wifi

Same error cyberman, but it said that "DISM doesn't recognize the command-line option "health" for more information, refer to the help by running DISM.exe /?

The DISM log fule can be found at c:\windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log"

Also, what I meant earlier was that those programs are the ones that showed me the dependency error when I tried to start them, they won't start T_T

Sorry if I confused you :/

It's not extreme at all really, it simply takes your system files back to how they were before the problems started. It's by far the safest and easiest way to fix these types of problems. :geek:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html

According to it when I tried to run rsteui.exe:
System restore does not appear to be functioning correctly on this system
A volume shadow copy service cmponent encountered at an unexpected error. Check the application event log for more information (0x80042302)

WTF!?

O_O

Yes it sounds like it's royally messed up. You might first try running these commands.

In an elevated command prompt type or copy.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth Then let it run until it completes and reboot system.

Then run the sfc/scannow command, let it run and reboot. Let me know what it says after the sfc/scannow command, and then check to see if any of the problems are fixed. If not see if you can run system restore or not.

Btw, I ran that program, the results were on last page...

Have you had a virus infection recently it sounds as though the system is messed up have you tried system restore again?

You could try pressing F8 at boot time and then try system restore again.

Lets see here, system restore won't run, dism command won't run and sfc/scannow not sure but it's not looking good. I've done all I can here to no avail.

It's time to punt this system and reinstall, no question about it.

Of course having a system image handy would be asking too much but that's how I'd fix this. :)

I have no idea... The only odd site that I sent to was this chinese website for comics, not really any downloads though. So it seems like its time for a factory restore? I will try safe mode system restore first though I guess

99mh.com, dunno if any viruses would have gone through, since the sites pretty big, and I have had NoScript on...

Well, thank you Chev65 and CyberMan... Without both of you I wouldve been lost, I wish I was as well-versed as both of you

Will try system restore in SM first, the. Details later

Should I try whats suggested by this user too?

If you follow this tutorial, all your services will revert back to default settings: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html

Read the tips there:

   Tip

  • Sounds
  • :ar: Services
  • Visual Effects Settings
  • Device Drivers - Be sure to have these handy to reinstall. They do not always remain after the repair (upgrade) install.
  • You may lose the ability to sign on to MSN Messenger, to solve this problem have a look at this thread Unable to sign in to WLM.
  • You may lose your custom themes due to not having permisions set on the old themes. Go to the hidden themes folder at C:/Users/(User-Name)/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Windows/Themes, then Take Ownership of the themes folder and you will now have all your themes back.
  • It has been reported that you may also lose your Media Center gadget after doing the repair install.
  • Windows Updates will need to be checked and reinstalled again.

Hi Zero if you do not have the recovery discs you can use the recovery partition which is a hidden partition on your hard drive which restores your computer back to factory default settings.

It is accessed at boot time by pressing F11 or F other key it is usually displayed onscreen what key to press. Check your documentation which maybe on your computer in the form of a user guide.

Other computers you press esc key and select system recovery.

If you are unsure post the make and model of your computer on here and we will try and find the information needed on how to access the recovery partition.

But before doing the system recovery back to factory defaults please back up all your important data such as videos, music, documents, program setup files etc to an external hard drive or to CD/DVD discs.

Glad your system is restored now Safe mode runs a set of minimal drivers and can be used to troubleshoot issues, some driver of software was not running interfering with system restore so it was able to do it's job.

On your model of laptop if you need to recover from recovery partition at anytime try the following:

Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds until it powrs off.

press and hold 0(zero) key and tap the power button on.

When you hear beeping release zero key

Click yes to continue at warning

select Factory default recovery

Select out of factory default out of the box

Click next for recovery to start

I am self taught years ago when my computer stopped booting learned about hardware and operating systems with research and tinkering with stuff and learned networking.

I am just a computer enthusiast.

Glad it is now all working.

You can now mark the thread as solved if youare happy using thread tools at the top.

Microsoft is a good start if you want to learn more about operating systems and MSDN and Technet.

For hardware Intel and AMD for proceesors.

AMD and Nvidia for Gfx cards.

Learn obout compatibilty of of different hardware.

Motherbords and PSU's.

In general i use the web for research into different tech and how they work and for troubleshooting.

This forum has lots of tutorials for how to's which will help you expand your knowledge.

If you want to learn how to build and repair there are lots of guides to get you started.

Good luck if you wish to learn more it can be fun and frustrating at times but research is where you need to start.
