hi all, i have the following issue, when i start windows 7 ultimate my cpu in idle is 34 to 37 celcius , 2% cpu use, full load goes up to 50 celcius (games like fear series, cod 2 4 and 6,crysis etc) , 65% cpu use ,ok, idle again goes to 34 as stated, but when it comes out of suspension the temps in idle are 49 celcius, 2% cpu use and never go down, if the cpu was in use after suspension ok that could be a reazon , but is only 2% use .
i checked all the processes and they are the same as before going into suspension. then in full load(after coming out of supension) it goes up to 65 celcius(gaming).
i restart windows and again in idle is 34 celcius , what is going on here?
can anyone help me?
why i suspend it? , cause i have an htpc, it takes 2 seconds to be ready again, with gygabite ga-ma780-gpm-ds2h amd 5000+ be (overclocked to 3ghz for my games) 2g ram, maxorb fan (full speed) , 3 back fans, another over integrated hd3200 graphic card, mozart htpc vfd and remote control case and vizio 42 inche hd tv as monitor.
any ideas?

Overclocking.

Added with the fact that you probably did not put the thermal paste on your CPU properly.

3 back fans? Where is your front fan? And your cpu fan?

You must have a fan infront for intake of cool air...

What size are your fans? 80MM?

but if the problem is overclocking before supension cpu is 34 celcius, i play my games and is no more than 50 celcius , after games it comes down to 34 and the cpu is still overclocked, so?
if i dont overclock my temp is just 28 celcius but to run games nicely need more juice and 34 is not bad at all.

i have one front fan forgot to mention it,and my cpu fan as mentioned is a maxorb, thermal grease is good(cheked and re aplied yesterday) remember the high temps problem comes only after windows comes back from sleep not before. my guess is that after coming from suspension windows is not loading something, what , i dont know.
i dont have 3 back fans , only 2 60 mm 4000 rpm in the back and one floating over integrated graphic, is noisy but when playing my gameswith the high volume of 5.1 speakers can not hear the fans at such speeds.

Temperature increasing is normal when you put more load on the PC..

I don't see anything wrong with a overclocked CPU hitting 50c when gaming..

dguys , guys, i guess i did not explain myself very clear in this matter, my problem is not if the cpu reaches 50 in load, that is normal , my problem is and please read carefully :first i turn on windows from scratch, ok , in idle the micro goes to 34 degrees, ok, when loaded goes to 50 as is supoused to be , i'm clear with that.
i stop gaming it goes to idle 34 , which is normal again. now if i put my system is sleep mode or suspension it Goes to sleep as is supoused to do it, fine so far.
NOW I COME BACK FROM SLEEP MODE AND THE TEMP IN IDLE IS 49 DEGREES AND STAYS THERE , WHY?, BEFORE SLEEP MODE IDLE WAS 34 , AFTER SLEEP MODE IS ALMOST 5O AND DONT GO DOWN , SO THE PROBLEM WITH THE TEMP IS WHEN COMING BACK FROM SLEEP MODE. IF I TURN OFF THE PC THEN BACK ON , IDLE AGAIN IS 34 DEGREES SO YOU SEE, IS A COOL TEMP, I PUT IT BACK INTO SLEEP MODE AGAIN, AND WHEN I AWAKE IT BACK AGAIN THE TEMP GOES TO 49 AND DONT GO TO 34. THE PROBLEM IS COMING BACK FROM SLEEP MODE, WINDOWS IS DOING SOMETHING THAT IS KEEPING MY MICRO AT 49 DEGREES AFTER SLEEP MODE.

First:
Do not rely on idle temps very much. They can often be inaccurate, sensors stick etc at the lower end. you will have more accurate temps the closer to TjMAX you are.

Load temps are the most important.
If you can run something like Prime 95, and the temps stay as they should under full load, I would not worry as its likely a mis-interpretted reading, or sensor sticking at idle.

Having said that:

It likely could be a software issue if its only showing after a sleep.

What utility are you using to monotor temps?

When this happens,and you get high idle temps being reported;
If you immediatly reboot and go to PC Health in Bios, what do your bios say the Temp is?
Is it normal there?
i know you said its normal once you reboot, but just curious what the bios is actually saying. They will be more accurate for the most part than software in windows.

It's easy, try another program to monitor your temperature to see if this is the case or a false positive from the program you are using now... GL :)

ok, i used HWInfo32, amd overdrive, hsm, speedfan and they all showed the same : when turning on pc from scratch temps are 34 when idle and 50 full load ,ok ,now i finish with the pc and i put the system to sleep, now i'm back and turn on again the pc, ok , but when coming from suspension temps are 49 idle and dont go down ,65 full load , with no load again goes down to 49 , as you all can see there is a real thing coming out from suspension .
i will re intall windows with no programs to see if it is windows itself and install the programs one by one to see if i can catch the one doing this if it isnt windows. if you have any other suggestion let me know , if not thanks everybody for the effort.

I have a Gigabyte board, but not familiar with the one you have. Do you have your CPU voltages set on Auto in BIOS, or do you have a manual setting? Auto can create more voltage than is safe. Something seems to be keeping your CPU active during sleep when it should come from sleep mode at it's lowest thermal point.

Since it's not a software monitor problem, you might check your voltages. Just a guess on my part.

my voltages are in manual cause in normal my games are too slow to play.
i have the board on s3 sleep mode wich is the pc shut down completly when i hit power on my remote control. when i do that everything is off, the fans, micro, etc, are totally off he power suplly has only one 5v on for the infrared sensor of my htpc case so if i hit power the sensor turns on the pc.
i hit power in my remote control and the system comes back on in 2 seconds(love that) in 2 more seconds everything is as before going to sleep.
i wrote down all the stuff running and cpu usage and memory usage , voltages etc before puting the system to sleep. put it to sleep and recheked all the stuff running and they are all the same , same voltages, same cpu usage, same memory usage as before going to sleep but the temp is too high as in full load.
but cpu usage is 2%, memory is all together 30% .
the only thing that ran that was not in my list was something called mobsync but desapeared in one second from task manager. so that could be the thing?.

i googled it and it says is a windows program . so, if everything is as it was before going to sleep why my temp goes 15 degrees higher and dont come down? cpu use is just 2%.

oh, something else i saw weird in task manager was "inactive system process" that kept cpu in 50% use, but then desapered too. and total cpu usage came down to 2% only temp is still in 49

Operative term here being HTPC case. Pretty much bet it wasn't designed with gaming or overclocking in mind.

absolutely not, htpc parts should be low power and quite. thats why they have non gaming HD graphics cards.

well guys , i live alone so my case is always open in my living room, no cover is attached.
i know htpc is not meant to be for games but i do it prety good in this one. with the case closed temps go 5 degrees higher but it runs fine and to avoid any problems case is open. i run with hd 3200 integrated graphic card cod6, farcry, crisis 1 and2 fear 1, fear extraction point, the other one i forgot the name and fear 2, cod4, cod2, cod5, vegas2 , jerico, quake4 etc.
mediaportal etc. and windows7 graphis for me is awesome, not complains.
is the vc4000sns with remote control. i have 3 years with it and when i got it i gave away the stereo, the dvd player the extra speakers . you know the drill.
so the only problem you already know and that did not happen when i was using xp, so is a windows 7 problem i supouse. and this case can take any graphic card it hasa lot of room for it.
i can make it really quiet if i get pwm fans, those with 4 pins. so if i stop gaming the fans will go down too. i tried before with my friends fans and we could nt hear a thing when i stopped gaming.
