Whenever I connect to any Wifi network with a working internet connection, I get multiple networks listed. One is the name of the wifi network I have connected to, the second one is always the "Unidentified network". Both show "Internet Access". This second one started appearing after I set a static IP to my home wifi network via IPv4 properties window. I had set the IP address to 192.168.54.1, subnet mask to the default (255.255.....) and gateway to 192.168.45.1, DNS1 to 8.8.8.8 and DNS2 to 8.8.4.4. After setting these up, I was unable to access the internet and it showed my network only as "Unidentified network".

So, I reverted back all the IPv4 settings to default ie. automatic DNS and IP. Now everytime I connect to ANY Wifi network, that "Unidentified network" shows up along with the wifi network I have connected to. I tried removing all my saved networks and reconnecting to them but I can't get rid of the "Unidentified network". Any help would be appreciated :)

No typo, it was just random that I was trying out.

Is this a virtual machine ? (just wondering)

You might be able to change the name to whatever you want, I followed this tutorial
a week or 2 ago and figured out how to do it

Thanks for the help but I solved the problem. I went to the Network and sharing center and opened up the Status window of that Unidentified network, then went to properties of IPv4 and noticed that the gateway I had set was still there (other fields were empty) but greyed out. I enabled manual IP and cleared that field and pressed all OKs and it was gone.
