Ok Here's the thing...I currently have an ocz vertex 2 120 gb ssd that I put win 7 ultimate on. I have recently come across a deal for the 60gb version for only $89.99 so now I plan on re-installing win 7 ultimate on that drive and using the 120 gb ssd for programs and games.

My question is what is the minimum I can install on the 60 gb ssd to run windows? can I simply install the OS, firewall, AV Program and Malware program and be done with it and then install all programs and game on the ssd. I want to put as little as I can on the 60 gb ssd. The other day my disk transfer number went from 7.6 to 7.4. Not sure why but I think I would rather just keep a nice little buffer on the drive with just over half of it filled besides I have a 120 gb ssd for all the goodies and I ususally play maybe three games alternately anyway so I won't need much on the 120 gb but I may put a photoshop program on the 60gb drive.

Hi,

Yes, for the bootable 60GB SSD you can install Windows 7, AV and anti-malware (if you use Windows Firewall then that will come as part of the OS install), otherwise install that too if its a separate program. You will still have loads of room left. Don't forget all the Java and other little requirements etc.

I have a OCZ Vertex 2 and have installed Windows 7, NIS2011, MBAM and the full Office 2010 and a few bits and bobs like 7ZIP etc. etc. and still have 40 odd GB fee. You will still have plenty of space.

I speak under correction, but I recall a mention that an ideal buffer was in the order of 20% free space.

Regards,
Golden

Maybe I would do it the other way around. I would keep the OS and all business and productivity apps along with photoshop on the 120 and put the games on the 60.

Awseome,

Thanks guys for the help. I wasn't sure if installing my programs and games on the other drive would cause a conflict but I'm glad that I was finally able to get an answer. BTW, Golden what kind of boot times do you get? I would think that with so few programs you should be getting a super quick boot time.

Yeah I had thought of doing it that way but I buy more games than I do new programs and one game is a 15gb install and I have more than one with that amount so that 60gb ssd is gonna fill up in a hurry.

Very nice...I had a really slow install of the setpoint program and I'm not sure why. I have the MX518 gaming mouse and it's a great peripheral but I can't get the program to download right. It keeps hanging and won't respond.

BTW what time is it down under? I would imagine the sun is out where you are.

Thanks for the help.

I have the same mouse but it works perfectly fine. What version of SetPoint are you using? This is mine:

No worries - the other thing that might help is to uninstall any previous versions of setpoint if you had any, then trying the 620 installation.

Good luck,

I had been thinking that. I do have the vista X64 disc but was cautious not to use it. Perhaps a previous win 7 x64 version would be best.

Do you mean for SETPOINT?

You should just be able to unintsall it, and then downlaod the new version of setpoint and install that - no need for any discs.
